FIRST IMMANUEL LUTHERAN MINISTRIES
First Immanuel Lutheran Church was organized in 1853. At the initial meeting, it was decided that the church would also organize and operate a Lutheran day school. Since that meeting, First Immanuel Lutheran (FIL) Ministries continues to conduct grade school classes for members of both the congregation and the community. The congregation’s commitment to education is evident in that two-thirds of the school’s operating budget comes from the congregation’s budget. The congregation also provides opportunities for families through pastoral counseling, parenting classes, youth activities and faith-building opportunities.
In December 2005, FIL Ministries opened River of Life, a satellite ministry site, in Saukville. Before that, the building was an active LCMS congregation, Peace Lutheran. After they could no longer sustain a full-time pastor or building expenses, FIL Ministries stepped in to make sure Gospel-centered ministry would carry on in Saukville.
Since then, River of Life has become the largest worshiping community in Saukville and sponsors community events. Along with that, a number of groups use the space for meetings and gatherings.
